WAYS WE HELP
Every other Friday, a team of 6 OUWB medical students and a Beaumont physician hold a drop-in clinic at HOPE adult shelter in Pontiac, MI.
Every other Saturday, 2 OUWB medical school students and a Beaumont physician meet individuals directly on the streets of Pontiac to provide lunch, supplies, and immediate medical care.
SMO is partnering with Oakland County Health Department to provide volunteers for COVID testing sites
SMO is also partnering with The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities to provide Narcan training to guests staying at HOPE Adult Shelter.
Meet members of the Pontiac community, help them to feel heard & cared for, address health concerns to the best of ability, and connect them with organizations who can provide further assistance. We believe these goals can be reached with:
Vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry)
Blood glucose check if indicated
Basic wound care & joint wraps
Dispensing of OTC medication & non-narcotic medications
Health counseling & education
Referral for follow-up care at local community clinics (GBCHC or Honor Health)
